Slidell Mayor Freddy Drennan Cuts the Ribbon at the City Barn Drainage Pump Station

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Held at City Barn Drainage Pump Station

05.01.14 | A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the City Barn Drainage Pump Station marking the completion of the "Installation of Mechanical Bar Screen Cleaners" project.

As part of its ongoing Hazard Mitigation efforts at the City Barn Drainage Pump Station, the City of Slidell recently completed the installation of mechanical bar screen cleaner devices at its City Barn Drainage Pump Station. These stainless steel bar screen cleaner devices are located upstream of the station and protect the drainage pumps by removing large debris from the drainage canal before the debris can be ingested by the pumps. The project includes three mechanical bar screen cleaner devices, a concrete work and debris removal deck, access platforms, and connections to an existing emergency generator to ensure operation during major storm events. The project was designed by H. Davis Cole & Associates, LLC (HDCA) of Metairie, Louisiana and was constructed by The Lemoine Company of Lafayette, Louisiana. The mechanical bar screen equipment was manufactured by Hydro-Dyne, Inc. of Oldsmar, Florida.
This project is completely operational and will benefit the public by adding additional protection against pump failure and flooding.
