Mayor Drennan breaks ground on Drainage Pump Station Improvements

Groundbreaking Held at City Barn Drainage Pump Station

02.18.16 | City of Slidell Mayor Freddy Drennan broke ground today on the Expansion of the City Barn Drainage Pump Station project.

The project will be constructed by BLD Services of Kenner, LA and was designed by H. Davis Cole & Associates, LLC (HDCA).

The cost of construction of the project is $1.25 million. Funding is being provided through a Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) grant from FEMA through GOHSEP.

The project will increase the pumping capacity of the station by approximately 78% from 225 cubic feet per second (CFS) to 400 CFS. The overall pumping capacity of the pump station could fill 52 standard sized bathtubs in 1 second.

The project will serve to reduce street and structure flooding though out the southern end of Slidell including Olde Towne.
